Our first ‘Mila Says’ !!

From Nancy Churnin, author & theatre maven:‍ ‍Mila Vincent, Dallas' youngest theater critic, has been reviewing shows with her grandmother, Johannah Luza, since Mila was four years old, including most recently on the late Doug Sturdivant’s website DFW Center Stage.

Mila is 11 now and together, in their "Mila Says" double reviews, the pair hope to help grandparents and grandkids know about shows that they might all enjoy. As you will see from this review, they vouch for Wicked as a show that brings magic across the generations! (Presented by Broadway Dallas, the musical runs May 6-June 14 at The Music Hall in Fair Park, 909 1st Ave., Dallas. 2 hours, 45 min. with one intermission. 214-565-1116. broadwaydallas.org ) Thank you to Jan Farrington and Onstage NTX for being the new home for “Mila Says!”

Mila Says:

I was so excited to see Wicked for the second time. The first time I saw it I was just a little kid. Now I'm eleven and liked it even better!

There were lots of funny parts. Glinda, who was the good witch, called herself Ga-Linda. She made everyone call her that instead of just Glinda. She wasn't very smart and mostly just thought about being pretty all the time. But she was funny and I liked her.

Just like in The Wizard of Oz, there was a green witch, monkeys, and Emerald City with Oz.
Elphaba was the wicked witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz but before that, she and Glinda were friends. Elphaba was pretty smart. She loved animals and taught Glinda that she should care for all animals in the world.

My favorite song in the show was "Defying Gravity." Everyone in the audience loved it and clapped so hard after every song. I give the show 5 stars. Kids and adults both will love everything about this show.

Oh, and right before the show started I pulled a tooth! I called my dad really quick to tell him and he laughed and said, "That's wicked!"

Johannah:

The first time Mila and I saw Wicked was with her mama. We have such good memories of that night. Mila loved it then and loved this production just as much. She was so into the story that she had to explain a few scenes to me. All of the actors were incredible! The set was beautiful and I can honestly say I don't think I've ever seen an audience so enthused before! Take the whole family. Great way to spend an evening!
